## A simple test of independent understanding

- Draw. Let the library choose one consequential idea.

- Research. Find explanations, evidence, examples, and objections yourself.

- Explain. Close the tabs and speak as if to an intelligent beginner.

02 · Selection

## How concepts enter the canon

A concept is included when it is recognised, transferable across multiple issues, meaningfully distinct, useful in serious current-affairs writing or debate, and suitable for independent research and spoken explanation.

Voxcept excludes vague field names, temporary buzzwords, duplicate labels, narrow trivia, and standalone organisations or personalities that do not teach a reusable idea. Aliases improve search without creating duplicate cards.

03 · Evidence

## Evidence behind the practice

Voxcept is informed by research on retrieval practice and self-explanation. Generating an explanation can expose gaps that rereading leaves hidden, while retrieving an idea from memory can strengthen later access to it.

What this does not prove. These findings support activities used by Voxcept. Voxcept itself has not yet been independently evaluated, and the Folio is not a measure of mastery.
